It is rainy season and being mother nature will not be predicted... hard to know what kind of weather you will get.

could be days of sun

could be sunny days with the occasional rain shower

could be heavy rain for days.

Rainy season generally runs sometime in Oct til some time in Jan but one year I was down it was still pouring in March. Last year they didn't get a drop in Jan and then for a full seven days in Feb it rained cats and dogs.

Tropical island..what are ya gonna do..the good news is rain at 80 degree is a whole different animal than rain at 60 degrees.

Course rain does mess with water visibility.

Visibility is at it's worst nov-jan. Distance remains decent at 20-25 meters but the runoff from rain does create a "browning" of the usual turquoise bay islands water.

As a former cold water diver 60 foot visibility in 80 degree water off Roatan beats 10 foot visibility in 40 degree water off Les Escumins. My experience here on Roatan is even after a hard rain the visibility is cleaned up with the next tide change.

Just returned yesterday. Lots of rain but mostly at night. The days were sunny and then every evening the rain came. Visibility was good most days. There was one day that the wind was strong and the water was unusually rough, so visibility was not good that day but was great on the other days.

as a first timer, West End is good to get yourself oriented. scooter rentals are everywhere as are dive shops. if you want to explore, head east till you get to the dirt road. there is great diving and beautiful secluded beaches. the eas end does not get as much rain as the west, probably because the west is closer to the mainland. Camp Bay has some excellent diving as does Morat Wall. Tropical Island Divers is a good dive shop to access these less touristy spots. you can also snorkle out to the reef, which is in prime shape.

for food and relaxing i would check out La Sirena restaurant. a nice little palapa over the water with the best seafood and rum punches.

enjoy the island, there is a lot to see.
