One week trip to South India in June, suggestions please?

First of all thanks in advance for your time!

I am planning a 1-week relaxing family trip to South India in June-end next year. Could the respected members here please help me plan a nice one?

1. Which place is good for a big family group that includes 5 adults and 4 teenagers and 2 kids? I prefer something like Munnar due to its green, relaxing hill views. But I have never been to Munnar so your inputs are heartily welcome.

2. Is it advisable to visit South India in June-end or early-July? How is the typical weather during that time of the year?

3. We want to have a real countryside experience especially Homestay type including meals, so no to big hotels. Besides, it is going to be a big group so we are trying to keep it a budget one (not very high class). Any suggestions here?

4. What transportation is good from Delhi to the destination, trains or flights? Any ideas?

Thanks!

-SW

Above suggested trip is great, if you want to chose kerala only...

if you want more then that.

Kochi (3days) - Kanyakumari (2days) - Rameshwaram (1 day) - Chennai (1 day)

You can do it anyway you want, add on or whatever.

You can Add one more day to Chennai from Kanayakumari.

Can not minus day from kochi the place is great...

From Delhi flight is the only best option. train will make 3 days travel, that will be hard.

you can connect flight to Kochii or chennai only.

for the places i suggested use TA.

Hello SummerW730,

June - july is the time for monsoon rain. This year we had rain all through this months.

So if you would like to experience Kerala during rains then do think of it

else ,i would suggest to look for Tamilnadu( west coast) , as it wouldnt be raining there then

You could arrive at Chennai ( from Delhi) and consider the places like Mammallapuram - beach , Pondicherry - heritage , Ooty or Kodaikkanal hill stations and then fly from Coimbatore or Trichy

For one week

Option 1 : fly to Bangalore from there explore Bandipur-Wayanad-Coorg-Mysore-Bangalore

Option -2 fly up to coimbatore- from there Ooty -Coonoor Mudumalai

Option3 Fly up to Madurai -Kodaikanal Kanyakumari and Trivandrum and fly back

Option 4 fly to Cochin -Munnar-Alleppey/Kumarakom and back

All these destinations connected by train/cab but train travel will consume a lot of time

June end or July 1st week does not make any difference as this is monsoon season expect showering

June is not a good month for South India because of the monsoon.

Why not consider a Greek island instead where the weather will be fabulous, and accommodation will be less expensive in the high season?
