Delhi to Ambala is fantastic and after that there are few strech's where construction of flyovers is going on but the roads are good only ludhianda-jhalandhar section might take some time to cross otherwise it will be a smooth ride

If you regularly drive on highways around Delhi, then the condition of this road is much better than other highways. It takes around five hour from delhi to ludhiana with one stopaage of thirty minutes. from Ludhiana to Amritsar it takes 2-2.5 hours depending on Traffic conditions. Try to start early from Delhi around 5 am, so that you can reach Ludhiana by 9:30 am with stoppage at Rajpura or Karnal. after that you can take a stoppage at Jullundhar. If you are going mainly to visit golden Temple then You can use the parking provided by the gurdwara. When you enter Amritsar, after you pass Hyatt on left side of road, there is a sign board indicating a right turn for gurdwara parking. This is a dedicated road leading into the multi level Parking. Park your car there and walk down to golden temple from there, which is hardly 400m from away
