Child at Full moon Party

We'll be staying Ko Phanagan in August, I'm planning in staying Mai Pen Rai, but there is a full moon party on the island while we are there.

I would love to experience the atmosphere for a couple of hours, but my son is 12 years old, Is the FMP too crazy to have a child around, are people taking drugs openly, I'm not into that scene at all, and don't want my son witnessing anything like that. Thanks for any feedback :)

Hi Colleen,

We went to KP in DEC with intention of going FMP with our kids in tow. On the night we didn't go, due to laziness mostly and transport. But before we went I trawled the forums and looked at photos and reckoned that it's ok for kids, early on, before it gets messy. I think you just need to take the usual precautions about crowds and drinking etc. I'd definitely bring a 12 yr old. Hope this helps. B

It'll be fine for a 12 year old , just go early and leave early (before midnight). People aren't openly taking drugs , apart from the legal drug alcohol of which there's plenty. there is some face painting and stuff that goes on , i'm sure you'll enjoy a visit.
