Looking for 'off the beaten' path snorkeling advice

Family of four looking to escape the generic snorkel tour, anyone have any tips/names of boats or advice? All four of us are very experienced swimmers/snorklers and two divers in the group. We are not looking for the usual tour and do not want to be dropped off with a throng of people stepping on coral mucking up the water. We are more of the 'drop us in the water' and we will find it group. We like to observe without interfering, it's amazing what you can find if you just move quietly along.

We will be arriving in Ko Phangan on April 1st.

Unfortunately there isn't actually much snorkelling on Koh Phangan and really the only place there is is off the west coast, maybe hire a long tail and get them to take you there. Your best bet for snorkelling is really Koh Tao, but most tours going there are likely to be packed with people.

Otherwise you can do a snorkeling trip to Ang Thong NP
