Any suggestions for hotel in good location phi phi island ?

We are going to the club med with 3 older children 10,16 and 21 years for a week in Jan. and then have 6 extra nights and would like to go to phi phi island. Where is it nicer to stay on phi phi island? We are considering staying for 3 nights at the Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel which is in Ton Sai Bay right near the ferry and village and between two beaches... or is it nicer to stay at another location away from the village. which is the most beautiful part of the island ? We love the beach. We are looking for a 4 or 5 star resort or hotel. Any suggestions? is there anywhere thats really special or new to stay? we cant decide if we should stay for 3 days on phi phi and then return to phuket for the last 3 nights or stay for 6 days on phi phi. Any recommendations where we should stay in Phuket if we return for the last 3 days? Appreciate you recommending a good 4 star resort close to or at a beach. A friend suggested the Sheraton grand laguna but we are undecided. Appreciate some advice.

The Holiday Inn also gets my stamp of approval - the bungalows are not the newest on the Island but location location - 30 minutes in a long tail around to Tonsai - and the scenery on the way is superb!

The bungalows are clean and all have balconies, the beach front are the best for views but really how much time will you spend in it!

The beach is clean (they even sweep the beach!), offers shade and hammocks, a view across to Bamboo and Mosquito Island, a tine litte Sea Gypsy Village that offers fantastic food and basic supplies.

The Sunset Satay Bar at the Holiday Inn is by far one of the best places to watch the sunset that I have ever seen.

This part of the Island is wonderful, I cried last time we left and we are booked again for December / January and I am already dreaming of the clear water and relaxing on the beach.

My only other advice - take a few CD's with you, no TV in the room and you can loan CD's from reception but they are limited!

Basically what these people said. I can vouch for the Island Village. Wonderful place.

I would suggest three nights is enough here, and spend the rest of your time on Phuket, where it is cheaper, and there is more to do.

Although it is much nicer to stay on Phi Phi away from TonSai, I would recommend going there for a night out, as there are loads of bars with plenty going on.

We took your advice and stayed at Sheraton Krabi for 4 nights mid January. We had a wonderful stay there. After an initial disappointment of being given rooms right by the car park and looking onto a roof ( We complained but there was nothing else available for that night) we were then given rooms in the block overlooking the vast lawns and gardens near the swimming pool area the next day. It was an inconvenience to move after 1 night but well worth it to move. Our rooms were beautiful and kept very clean. Although I am more of a beach person than a swimming pool person normally, we spent all of our time at the pool area as it is so magnificent and realxing. There are hammocks to lie in and read on the grass under beautiful trees and although the resort was full we always managed to get hammocks or lying chairs when we wanted them. I had a swim in the sea there but did not repeat this as did not think the water was clean. However you can take a long boat to beautiful clean beaches so beach lovers dont be put off by this. The service at the hotel was excellent. The staff are so attentive and pleasant and cant do enough for you. We only ate at the resort even though restaurants are cheaper outside. The food and service was excellent and made every dining experience a wonderful experience. Thank you for your excellent recommendation anad the excelent stay Sheraton Staff. Instead of a tour we took a Sheraton taxi for the 5 of us and went canoeing in the mangroves and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We also had a wonderful week at the Club Med in Phuket ( great for families) and enjoyed our 2 days exploring the beaches around Phi Phi by long boat. The only mistake we made was to stay in the town at The Cabana hotel because aside from it being a convenient location to shop at night and having a great views it was run down and the staff were very unhelpful. Having seen The Island Villas Resort we would have much preferred this but my kids enjoyed staying near the town. So regretted not taking you advice but we were concerned about our older children coming back to the resort at night by long boat. The town is too commercialised and smelly and the first day I went for a swim in the sea outside my hotel only to discover shock horror it looked like I was swimming in diluted sewage. They really need to work on their waste systems with that amount of tourists coming each day. I would love to go back to Phi Phi one day and stay at The Island Villas. Getting to each place was fine with the ferries. We had a wonderful experience seeing the baby elephant Shokty that visits the Mediterranean Hotel in Phuket at 3 pm each day. Dont miss this especially if you have kids . We had a fantastic holiday and thanks to tripadvisor for all the help.
