Phi Phi

HI there,

I am confused about Phi Phi island. Once you are there can you walk to all the attractions such as koh phi phi viewpoint, bamboo island and ko phi phi le?

How long is ferry and how much from phi phi to raley beach?

If people do not stay on phi phi and make it a day trip where do they usually stay and make the day trip from?

Is there anything to do in phi phi or raley if its raining?

Is it dangerous to get in August?

Thanks!

Hi Scott, to explain a little, krabi is a province in which Ko Phi Phi is contained. There are day trips by boat and they are available from Aonang beach , Railay beach and Phuket island. If you read the T/A forums on these areas most of your question will be answered, hope this will be of help :) have a little look at Google maps to give you a feel for the geography for the area . Cheers Pat

Kog Phi Phi is an island as is Bamboo island and Koh Phi Phi le. So you cant walk between them.

You need to google some maps.

The seas can be rough during the rainy season so sea activities hampered.

Just to add, the ferry is about 800Bt return from Phuket. The ferry terminal on Phi Phi is Tonsai Bay.

Hi,

The walk to the Viewpoint from Ao Ton Sai, the main village is about 45 minutes to 1 hour. However, you are better off spending at least one night on Phi Phi and walking up to the Viewpoint to see the sun set.

Hi,

It takes roughly an hour to get from Phuket to Phi Phi. You can also go there from Krabi. We took the speedboat to Phi Phi, which is basically a group of islands. You cannot walk from one attraction to another. You need to take a boat - you can opt for a slow boat or fast one. I suggest the speedboat simply because there is a lot to see there.

The thing to do at the islands is snorkelling. Most tour operators provide the snorkelling gear and life jackets. You might need to rent the fins separately but that is quite nominal. I went recently, and what I liked most was Bamboo Island and the lagoon on the way to Maya Bay. You really need to read about the inclusions on your tour because you don't just want to hop from one island to another, you should get to spend time at the beaches as well. Carry your swimwear because you would definitely want to take a dip in the waters at every stop.

As far as the prices go, I've written quite extensively about not just the day trip, but other factors during your trip to Phuket - …makemytrip.com/diy-phuket-holiday/

Hope this helps.
