Solo traveller in Koh Tao for 2 months, Best hostels?

Hi Im coming to Koh Tao for 2 months and wanting to know where people would recommend I stay.

Im a Solo traveller so ideally somewhere that I'm able to meet like minded people.

Id like some where that is clean and safe and well priced.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul, if you go to Koh Tao for a diving course, training or internship almost all dive centers offers free basic accomodation to their students.

Otherwise have a look at Dolce Vita and Save Boungalows, very cheap but decent places, both in Mae Haad.

Hi Paul,

If you are staying for a couple of months, you are probably best off sourcing longer term accom on arrival. You are likely to get better rates paying per month/every 2 weeks than paying nightly rates for the duration of your stay. There are several areas where there are bungalows and apartments solely made up rentals like this.

You could stay in a hostel/resort for a few nights on arrival to get your bearings and meet some people, and use the day times to find a suitable place for the rest of your stay. Its a transient island so places become available frequently. This way you also get to look at the different areas and work out where the best base (Mae Haad/Sairee/Chalok etc) is for you, rather than booking in advance and ending up further from where you'd like to be/where your friends are.

As Matti says, if you are doing a dive course, your dive centre may be able to help out with cheap accom, or recommendations nearby.

Hope this helps :)
