Hi there,

That's an overnight trip to Yala. About 2 x 5 hours drive and the safaris are 6-9 AM and 3-6 PM, hence impossible as a day trip.

All the best,

To see snakes in the wild is very rare, as snakes always try to avoid human contact except a few. Trekking out side with the help of a villager who knows about reptiles in areas such as Elpitiya, Pitigala, Matugama or interior will give you a slight chance. If you are not in the habit of trekking snakes / reptiles don't do it. You have to be fully geared. No guarantee will be given. If you wish to see Water Monitors best chance is at Madhu River, Balapitiya. This is all with your luck.

Correct. Also lots of water monitors in the lagoons/lakes at Dodanduwa, at Hikkaduwa's back door - but again not much guarantee to see snakes there.

Only for your info. Weligama (on the way to Yala NP) has a snake farm.

Hi Thirana,

Sounds nice. Do you have some more info on it, or even website? Sounds like a useful addition to the day trips top question...

Tnx,
