Reshni tours

We have recently returned from a super holiday at the Mermaid Hotel, and we would just like to say a few words about our two overnight tours we arranged with Reshni.

We found him to be a very smart, friendly and polite young man, who speaks excellent English, and is able to arrange anything you want. He is also one of the only beach boys to have a tourist board license.

We did one tour to Sigiriya and Dambulla. We travelled with one other couple, who we had met at the hotel, and had a very nice trip.

After an early start, we stopped a few times onroute for breakfast, and at a few roadside stalls to sample red bananas and mangos and nuts, and we arrived at Sigiriya around lunch time.

Reshni had arranged for us to have our own private guide, and we did manage to climb the 1200 steps to the top ! We then stayed in a very clean & tidy local hotel overnight.

The following day we visited Dambulla Rock Temple, again we had our own guide. After lunch, on our way home Reshni took us to see a beautiful new local temple.

We had a very nice driver, we felt very safe with him, driving on the mad Sri lankan roads ! and we travelled in a very nice, comfortable, people carrier with lovely air con !

Our other trip was just the 2 of us to Yala and then Whale watching, again with an overnight stay. An early start again, first we went to the elephant transit camp in Udawalawe to see the young elephants being fed, the were lovely, about 30 of them. Then on to Yala, again we had our own guide and safari truck. We did see lots of elephants, wild boar, crocs, water buffalo and lots of birds but we were unlucky with the leopard. Again a small local hotel for our overnight stay, the food was very good.

An extra early start next day ! we needed to get to Mirrissa for whale watching at 6-30 !

I had asked Reshni for us to go with Raja and the Whales ( they were fantastic ! ) and he had been able to arranged this for us. We had a great time and saw many whales, one so close we could see it was Blue ! Fantastic ! We also saw lots of dolphins. We were at sea for 7 hours and loved every moment !

During the afternoon we were supposed to visit lots of other places with Reshni but we decided to make our way home, we were so tired ! As it is a private trip that was fine, everything is very flexable.

Reshni and his driver looked after us very well indeed, and we had lots of fun with them.

Everything was very smooth and easy. Reshni can tailor make your trip to be whatever you want. We would highly reccomend.
