Where's the best place to stay for visiting the Elephants?

Hi, where's the best place to stay if coming to see the Elephants in the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage? What's the nearest city? What hotels would you recommend? I would be looking at mid-range to nice ones but not necessarilly top end.

What else is worth doing there whilst there? Are there any other places / cities worth travelling to see nature or other things?

Thanks!

Hi,

There is a hotel - Hotel Elephant Bay (http://www.hotelelephantbay.com/) - at the Elephant Orphanage. Double room with half board is about LKR 8,500/night.

Or you could include Kandy (Temple of Tooth, Botanical Gardens, Kandy Dance) in your tour and stay overnight in Kandy (that's what most people do). There is accommodation in Kandy that will suit any purse. Ha a look at TA list of Kandy hotels.

Hans
