Lobster ban?

I read something on The Bocas Breeze about a ban on fishing lobster until June 30th. Anyone know anything about it? Are they over fished?

YES! They are very overfished. If you see anybody serving Carribean lobster (and crab is also banned) say something. Carribean lobsters do not have front claws. I have seen some places serving what they say is fresh lobster but they have claws. People tend to ignore these bans and just eat the lobsters served anyway because they figure what harm is just one more. The people who fish these lobster will gladly provide lobster to anybody that wants to buy them. They were dwindling a long time ago.

Yes, the ban is in effect and has been since mid-March.

Lobster are over-fished in this area and will continue to do so because the locals will do what it takes to make their daily money.

Be smart and make the best decision for you, the environment, and its gifts.
