I did the Delhi-Agra-Jaipur run. I'd give them a grade B-. The hotels they booked were good. The driver was good. On the other hand, the car had serious safety/maintenance issues (missing side view mirror, two flat tires). The guides were inferior (one never even showed up), two of the sites were closed during our tour (they should have checked), and they misrepresented the driving time between cities (add 50%). I don't recommend them.

I am a solo traveler looking to share a trip like this next week - 01 June. I have several proposals from drivers, but would like to share the cost. Any ideas on how to find someone to share with me?

I just had my 5 day tour at the end of April of Golden Triangle (Agra, Sikri, Jaipur, Delhi) with Delhi Magic Tours. I booked all my hotels from Canada but was told that if I had booked the same hotels with my tour operator I could of got better deals. Delhi Magic Tours provided a driver (the car was new so no mechanical problems) and EXCELENT guides in all three cities!!! I would highly recommend this company. The owner is Deepa who comments on Trip Advisory for India destination. If anyone has more questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Hello Atessa

You wrote such a good review that I wondered whether you would answer a few queries from us.

We are a couple of pensioners from the UK planning a tour in India but not until October 2012 so we have plenty of time; probably Delhi, Agra, Jodphur, Jaipur, Udaipur and possibly Mumbai, but not necessarily in that order. We are expecting to do a mix of road, rail and air.

We cannot decide whether to go for a group tour with Saga or a private tour with Delhi Magic. The advantage of Saga is that everything is organised, meals are included but there are long days on the road and a lot of optional excursions at extra cost with about 30 people in the group. We normally prefer private tours but are just a little concerned at dealing with an unknown foreign firm.

Delhi Magic have included several escorted tours in the holiday. Delhi by Metro; Udaipur full day; Jodhur Jeep Safari; Jaipur Must-Sees (2 half days); Agra (2 half days). She also says that the vehicle is at our disposal at other times.

My queries are:

After the escorted tour of the day, did your driver just drop you back at your hotel or suggest somewhere else to visit.

Did he or she remain with you throughout the day. when there wasn't an escorted tour arranged.

Only 1 evening meal is included in our tour. Did you have to find your own places to eat or did your driver recommend places and take you to them. We wouldn’t always want to eat in the hotel but would be wary of wandering around on our own to find a restaurant.

We are at an age where sitting for too long causes knees and hips to ache – did you find the driving comfortable and were you able to stop quite often for a comfort break.

Which agency did you deal with to buy your Indian Visa, can you remember how much it was.

On reflection, would you have changed anything at all from what you actually did or do you have any tips or suggestions which might improve our holiday experience.

With many thanks

Janet and David

Hi oldgables

I am not quite a pensioner and travelled in Rajasthan for 30 days in dec./jan. While I used a different tour operator to the one you are considering, I feel I am qualified to comment on your question, because I understand the problem of sitting too long and its impact on a not so young body.

For that very reason, I strongly recommend you go for the independent trip. I would imagine that a well reputed operator such as Delhi Magic will take into account your requirements. I travelled in an innova, which is very comfortable, and the wonderful driver ensured that he found an appropriate stop when I required it.

You will have more opportunities to stretch your legs, and more independence to decide what you want to do and for how long, compared to a tour with a bigger group.

Have a wonderful trip

Hello jukabl

Thank you very much for your interesting comments. I think that we will be going with a private tour operator so that we have more independence and flexibility.

Hi , did you book with golden triangle tour india - as I am thinking about it but cannot decide whether the price being offered means the service and hotels will be poor?
