Hyatt Regency for last night of our trip?

our son has offered to pay for our last nights hotel in Delhi before we fly home. He is suggesting the Hyatt Regency as he has stayed there on business and enjoyed its facilities - also recommends a great restaurant not far away with delicious indian food at reasonable prices.

but l'm wondering wether this hotel is quite a lot to pay for as

- we arrive on our flight from Kochi at 6.30pm, then will take a bit of time l presume to get to the hotel, check in etc

then we plan to go out to eat to his recommended place

then back, sleep and have a flight at 1.15pm the next day so think we'll have to leave the hotel around 9.45am?

SO l feel, though his offer is very kind (and price of breakfast not included in room rate) it seems like we wont have time to enjoy and get the benefit of the hotels facilities.

given our schedule, does anyone have any other hotel suggestions - we'd like somewhere comfortable, with a nice breakfast, reasonably priced for the time we're there (ie nice surroundings but not with loads of facilities we wont have time to use) good Indian food (at hotel or not too far ) away and similar distance from the airport

is that too much to ask for?!

any comments greatly appreciated

hyatt regency is the usual hyatt, which is nice, but this one has the rooms which are a bit small. It will take you 1 hour from the airport to the hotel and 1 hour from the hotel to the airport

If you want to enjoy the facilities of a 5 star and be at the airport without seeing delhi you can stay at the Radisson (10-15 minutes), their Kabab Factory restaurant is very good.

Near the airport there is also the Leela (20-25 minutes) and the Hilton in Gurgaon. At 25-30 minutes is the Taj Palace or the Sheraton (which has a great restaurant called bukhara... but expensive. you will spend at least 1500rs a person)

Taj Palace is a better bet at the same cost. Taj group has another 5 star hotel called Taj Mahal - this one is even better. check out the prices at their website - http://tajhotels.com/

Agree that you will not have much time to enjoy the hotel - but if you get the price of the breakfast included in the rom rent then it is worth a visit because the kind of preakfast that is offered at these 5 star hotels [Hyatt and Taj] costs about USD 35 - 40 per head incl taxes - which means that about USD 70 - 80 in your hotel bill [post tax] is the cost of the breakfast. The breakfast is a huge spread.
