I would say you can delete Orchha and instead of that you should include Khajuraho which is far more better than it. Khajuraho group of monuments are world renowned Heritage site known for its erotic and sensuous Hindu and Jain temples.

Both car and train can be used at different locations

1. From Delhi to Agra to Jaipur, I would suggest you to take train.

2. In, Rajasthan(Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur), I would suggest you to take car for local sightseeing and travelling from one destination to other because each of these destinations in Rajasthan are quite big.

3. From Udaipur to Varanasi to Khajuraho, you should take train.

Alternatively, I would suggest you to board Royal Rajasthan on Wheels which traverse all these destinations for 8 days and 7nights. The train is not a just a vehicle but an experience itself. Boarding Royal Rajasthan on Wheels will make you free from all other tensions like accommodation booking, booking vehicles for local sightseeing and dining etc.

You are packing a bit too much in your trip. The distances and travel times between some of these places are quiet a bit. Traveling by road would be your best bet between most of these places.

From To Distance Approx Travel Time by Road

Delhi Agra 210 kms 3 hours 20 mins

Agra Jaipur 255 kms 4 hours

Jaipur Jodhpur 330 kms 5 hours 30 mins

Jodhpur Udaipur 250 kms 3 hours 40 mins

Udaipur Varanasi1140 kms 17 hours

You will most likely need to take a flight from Udaipur to Varanasi (No non-stop flights. Layover in Delhi)

You can avoid Orchha.

If the trip seems over-whelming to plan, you can use our services for free. We will be happy to get you customized itineraries and quotes from specialist travel companies in North India. You can compare and select the plan that suits you best. You have no obligation to book either.

Cheers and have a great trip!

If you are not bothered about Delhi (and I don't think it would be a highlight if you are straight off an aircraft) I would go directly to Agra and then you could either see the Taj that day or the next (sunset or sunrise or even both), before setting off for Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri and maybe even 2 hours in the bird park at Bharatpur if you like birds/animals. Then you could have 3 nights in Jaipur which gives you 2 whole days to see Amber Fort, Tiger Fort, City palace, the Observatory plus some other sights of particular interest (Birla temple, Sisodia gardens etc, shopping) so you will not be too exhausted. On Wednesday you can drive to Jodhpur, stopping at Pushkar for 2/3 hours en route. 2 nights in Jodhpur is enough to see Meherengarh and Jaswant Thada, and probably the cenotaphs and visit the lassi wallah by the Clock Tower. On Friday you can drive through lovely countryside to Udaipur, stopping at the Jain temples at Ranakpur for 2 hours or so. 3 nights in Udaipur would be ideal as there is more than a day's sightseeing there, and you can go to the monsoon palace for sunset or even visit Chittaurgarh Fort if you wanted if you exhaust all the main sights (City Palace, Jagdish temple, chhatris, Jag Mandir island boat trip, gardens). On Monday fly to Varanesi via Delhi, and have 2 nights there which is adequate, before flying back to Delhi for 4 hours or so sightseeing (India Gate, Jamaa Masjid, Chandni Chowk and maybe even Humayun's Tomb), Wednesday night in Delhi and fly out on Thursday. Sounds good to me! I can help further if you want - just contact me.

See if this works for you. You will have 1 night in Delhi, 1 night in Agra, 3 nights in Jaipur, 2 nights in Jodhpur, 3 nights in Udaipur, 2 nights in Varanasi.

You could do a train to Agra from Delhi. Just make sure you have a 'confirmed' train reservation.

If you follow this itinerary, you can do both Jaipur and Jodhpur.

It is advisable to make all your bookings before departing from Toronto.

Yes to both. It really depends on how much you want to pack-in to your trip. You can take a train in to and out of jaisalmer. You can also take an overnight train from varanasi to delhi. Make sure you book your trains asap because they fill up fast.

AC 2 Tier class in the train is comfortable.

if u take a look at google maps you will see that Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are far west so i you start from Delhi to Agra to Fatehpur-Sikhri to Jaipur to Udaipur, then u can go to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in which case u leave Varanasi and Orricha.

If u are a history lover and want to see the connection between the cities and their history doing the Delhi-Agra-Rajasthan cities is a good idea,

If u can skip Jodhpur-Jaisalmer you can go south of Udaipur to Ahmedabad and see a different side of history

You can also go from Agra to Gwalior and include Orricha

India is full of History and Heritage get a idea about the stories that interest you that way the monuments will be more tun to watch. For some help with history search google for the app named - The Glory of India
