SIM card, prepaid (iPad & iPhone)

We'll be in India in a week (5 days Goa, 2 days Hyderabad, 2 days Mumbai & 1 day Ahmedabad), entering India via DEL where we have to connect to Mumbai and Goa.

At DEL I would like to use our 2.5 hour layover to purchase 2 prepaid MicroSIM for my iPhone and the iPad of my wife. I've checked vodafone.in - but didn't find prepaid data tarifs.

So here my questions to the local specialists:

1.) is there a prepaid plan for my iPhone which allows me to make/receive phone calls and a plan to get 1 GB of data which I can use in Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Ahmedabad without roaming charges?

2.) is there the same prepaid plan for the iPad, so only 1 GB of data, usable in the above listed cities?

Thanks for your help!!!

Pre paid SIM card is easily available in airport and in market, you just need one photo (passport size) and X-copy of your passport, however make sure that your iPhone is unlocked for any carrier or service provider, here we use GSM technology SIM card so check that your iPhone whether accept GSM SIM card, by the way you don’t need worry about the tariff while here tariff is incredible cheap compare than other countries

Have fun- Ontess

In case you don't have an Indian address you can give the address of your hotel, and photocopy of your passport address page and India Visa page. The Airtel counter at New Delhi airport can sort it out for you. You will have to pay roaming charges anyway, but thats not a major amount. Otherwise you will have to buy a new sim at each city, which will be more of an hassle and cost you much more as well in the end.

There are no any roaming charges for using DATA and receiving TEXT, roaming charges would applicable to receiving and makings the calls, but don’t worry while charges are very low, mean less than or around one Rupee for a minutes for within India call, abroad calling is vary country by country

Take it easy and it’s really not complicate once you get here – Ontess

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows the hours of operations of AirTel in Delhi airport. I will be arriving at 5AM on Saturday and want to get a SIM card. Would this be possible?

The Airtel counter at the airport is supposed to run 24x7. If its closed then you may consider yourself extremely unlucky. You will have plenty of places to buy from in the city though, need not worry. But as far as I know, the Airtel counter will remain open.

Where is this counter? We're arriving internationally with Lufthansa, connecting AI to BOM and GOI
