Cycling in Delhi

Our group of 7 - 10 people will be traveling from Gwalior to Jammu in the second week of Feb 2013 via Delhi. But someone told us that cycling in Delhi is banned. Is this true?

all rubbish - i have friends who cycle every day on Delhi roads as well a go on a monthly ride on the highways as well

there could be a few stretch's on the main national highway like the new Agra- Noida Yamuna Expressway where cycling might be prohibited but you can always take the other highway via mathura- palwal- faridabad to Delhi

Not true. You will not be allowed to ride on the Expressway (Gurgaon or Yamuna)

Refer the below link for guidelines for cyclists issued by Delhi Traffic Police:

No one can tell you that cycling on Indian Roads are Banned in Delhi. But it is true that it is not recommended to cycle in Traffic like Delhi have. Don't go with guide line it won't help even if you go according to rules.

If you want Tour some part of old and new delhi where there is less traffic then Delhi by cycle Conduct tours.

Delhi is an amazing place for cycling. Great roads though you need to be careful as the traffic is not too cyclists friendly like any other city in India.
