just 200 meters from jivitesh is a Airtel outlet, just opposite the city hospital, you can go there and get it activated also there is a Karim's outlet just next to it do try the food there if you eat Non vegetarian food - you will love it

In the same vein...

We arrive New Delhi airport and want two SIMs for our cheap'n'cheerful mobiles. Calls only, no data etc. India use only, no international calls.

What's the best plan for obtaining / registering / activating?

Suspect we'll need some passport photos? Anything else?

We need about 100 minutes / 50 texts for our 3 week trip (contacting each other / hotels / taxis / tour guide etc)

Thanks,

TA

TravelAlong,

Many thanks but will we get the Sim activated immediately at Airtel? it seems the big outlets are taking 3-5 days whilst some of the smaller shops can somehow activate immediately.

Hi,

Best to carry your own sim from your country. It is legally not possible for non resident persons to purchase a sim card. You require a permanent address proof else a reference who is resident in india and willing to provide his/ her documents for your telephone connection.

Hi,

You can get a SIM card once in India by submitting two passport sized photos and photocopies of you Passport first page, address page and India Visa page. It takes about 3 days for activation, no way around it.
