Rajasthan or Darjeeling to begin with

Dear Experts,

We are already in Delhi for 4 days now. Our holiday lasts for nearly 2 months & surely wants to spend 3 weeks or more around Rajasthan+varanasi but on the other hand we also wants to visit Darjeeling. We are catching our plane for home from Mumbai at the end. Any advise where to begin our trip from?

Rajasthan will be very hot by mid-March as will Varanasi. I'd do my sightseeing there now, and then you'll want to head for the foothills as things get warmer.

Hi,

As you are from Norway so it would be better to do Rajasthan first then Varanasi - Darjeeling - Kolkata-Mumbai etc.

Tour Route - Delhi - Mandawa- Bikaner- Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Ranakpur- Udaipur- Chittorgarh-Bundi- Ranthambhore- Jaipur- Agra-Orchha-Khajuraho- Varanasi- Darjeeling ( New Jalpaiguri train station )- Kolkata-Mumbai - Goa- Mumbai.

If more time , you may plan to visit Ajanta and Ellora caves in Aurangabad from Mumbai.

Since your last destination in India is Mumbai, I would suggest you to start your trip from Darjeeling. 3 weeks are enough time to cover all cultural & historical sights in Rajasthan. I would suggest you to spend sometime in Goa as well for relaxation before heading to Mumbai for your return flight. Suggested Itinerary:

Delhi>>Darjeeling ( A week should be enough here) Kolkatta>>Varanasi>>Agra>>Jaipur>>Mandawa>>Bikaner>>Jaisalmer>>Jodhpur>>Pushkar>>Ranakpur>>Udaipur>>Ahmadabad (there are direct flights from Ahmadabad>>Goa) then finally Mumbai for few days before flying home.

Safe Journey!!

Hello,

Very well suggested by Mr. Mangal, this is the right time to visit Rajasthan as the weather should be pleasant and it will start getting warm from March onward. And Darjeeling being a hilly area will be ok to visit around March or later.

Thank you all for your inputs!

It seems difficult to start with Rajasthan first because of the advance train booking. We're planning to fly Darjeeling then start our train journeys for other cities i.e Kolkatta, varanasi, Agra etc. Being aware of the advance train reservation especially for Rajasthan region, what could be the other best option(in terms of transportation) to visit major cities in Rajasthan?
