Hi

In half day you can cover combined tour of old & New delhi. Drive past india gate, president house and Red fort. Visit Jama mosque and Rajghat.

Also visit Haumyun tomb and Qutub Minar and directly to the airport. if time permitted then visit red fort from inside. As a transport you can hire car / driver for your tour and enjoy your time.

Thx

Well covering the places as mentioned by Rakesh might not be possible keeping in mind the traffic conditions in the Capital. It would depend on what is your taste. If you are not scared of the crowd and need to see the true old delhi culture then tour of Old Delhi and Chandni Chowk is advisable. You could also shop there.

If you do not want to go to crowded places the visiting India gate, and Rajghat will

It also depends a lot on where you are staying in Delhi. If you are staying close to the airport I would suggest you visit the Lotus (Bahai) Temple and the Qutub Minar.

You could also visit Hauz Khas Village for a great evening as this place offers a lot for the people who want to enjoy the cafe culture in Delhi.

I know of a person who plans such trips for a lot of foreigners also for our clients who you could reach out to at sushmita.vashisth22@gmail.com to get more info.

Thanks,

I think you no need hotel for stay. All the monuments open sunrise to sunset. You do your sightseeing and in the evening go to the airport.

Gurgaon is the other side of the national capital region i.e. if you stay in Gurgaon, you are going further south of Delhi. The sightseeing is to the north east of the airport. See map here: http://goo.gl/maps/ksIbw

From Gurgaon the drive time to Connaught Place is between 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic and the exact location of your hotel. Do you really need a hotel for this day?

You can hire a car to pick you up from airport, do sightseeing for the day, and drop you at the hotel; then further drop you at the airport.

Agree with Deepa, you don't need a hotel for the day. Hire a car for the day, and remember you don't really have a lot of time as you will need to be back at the airport by about 3.30 - 4pm for the onward flight connection. You will also spend a fair amount of time on the roads, traffic can be really bad.

Thank you all for your feedback. Considering the current situations in Delhi regarding women's safety , my friend & I are slightly worried as we two are travelling on our own. Is safety issue exaggerated or is that the harsh reality? Can public transport be taken ? Till what time can we hang out in the evenings. Any specific areas to be avoided ?

Delhi is a huge city. It will depend which part of the city you are travelling in.

Most of the public places are crowded so are safe until 8:00 PM. Thereafter if you are travelling with a group it ahould be safe else try and reach your hotel by 9:00 PM

Why do you need a hotel if you arrive Delhi in the morning and leave in the afternoon? What is your budget?
