Transfer between Delhi international and domestic

Has anyone done the transfer from the international terminal to the domestic terminal early in the morning (3am or thereabouts). I would expect given the number of flights arriving at that time that the airport would be relatively busy but is it safe to do the transfer to the domestic terminal at that time? Would there be a lot of people doing that transfer? Thanks!

Hi

By which airlines you are flying in domestic sector. There are two domestic terminal in New Delhi.Jet an Air India operate from T3 ,which is also the international terminal. In this case its walking distance.Go,Indigo and SpiceJet operate from T1 which is little bit far. Then you need to take shuttle bus and that is absolute safe whenever you take,no problem at all.

Thanx

Thanks for your response...have not booked flights as yet but most likely we will book on Spicejet. What is the minimum connection time we should allow for the transfer? Thanks.

Reporting for domestic fights as advised is 2 hours. before. It will take app. an hour after your flight lands to come out.

Another Question - where does one get on the shuttle bus? Is it easy to find the correct bus stop outside T3? And how long approx. is the time on the bus (with and/or without traffic?). Is it pretty reliable - i.e. comes every 20 minutes as advertised?

It would be safe and relax if gap is 3 hr or more.In India check in to a domestic flight close 45 min before departure. When you come out of international departure there is a help counter for transfer. You can contact them. You can ask any airport staff or CISF security personal on duty about bus.Its frequency is 20 min.You wont have any problem.Traffic jam unlikely to happen as both terminal are connected through airport campus area.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. Am now thinking we will pay a bit more to fly with Jet airways as it means no transfer to another terminal. With that in mind, It should be ok for us to have a 3hour transfer time (from international arrival time to dom departure time)??

Yes it is enough gap and with some extra time you can enjoy a cup of coffee before boarding next flight.
