Suggestion for any local travel agent in Ladakh!

Hi fellow travelers,

Last year I went on a trip to Ladakh booked my travel with this big company called make my trip!

Only when I reach Leh-Ladakh I realize I made a mistake by booking my travel with them.

Make my trip is a big company but I feel the small Local company in Ladakh can handle the trip much more better then those big company.

M planing to go on a trip again and this time 5 of us, So if any one can

suggest me a good local agent from Ladakh.

Thanks

Hi Priya,

Same thing happened to me, but it was with Yatra Travel, they kinda promise

couple of things before actually booking the trip but it turned out that they

don't stick to what has been agreed by them and us.

Guys don't follow the same mistake. Be very careful when you make a trip, Local agent in respective places are far better to book you trip with.

You are absolutely right. The Big Guys offload you to local agents anyways. And just having an address in Leh means nothing. Me & my wife have always used local agents and have seen other Big-Guy customers not always happy. It is not just about the money but about the quality of services. For details, write direct to me [vu2pcd at gmail dot com]. I am not in the travel business but after 4 visits to Ladakh, I know whom to trust. Take care, be good.

I had booked for a 7 day trip to Ladakh from Bangalore on June 16th. There was a discount offered to

co-passenger of 25% which i was entitled for so the total cost of trip worked out to be around 64k.The

agent Mr. Singh sitting in Yatra’s Jaynagar Lounge had written to me that tickets were available on for 16th departure. So i transfered 15k as advance to book my slot for the trip for me and my wide. He gave me a booking reference number as YT 9130863.

However this is where things starts to get worse. I was expecting a confirmation mail saying details about my booking. I did not get any reply from this Yatra representative. When i called their helpline and

mentioned the above said booking n umber they did not have any information stored in their tool. So there was no booking made at this point of time i assume. He calls and tells me some nonsense reasons to change my booking dates to 9th or 23rd of June. Finally On 26th March this guy informs me that there are no seats available for 16th. I asked for a refund of 15k as i got irritated when i heard that suddenly seats were not available for 16th. Next i made some adjustments to my personal commitments and asked if the dates can be moved to 9th of June but i wanted the package at the same cost of 64k as i had sent the advance amount much earlier when the rates were lower. Guess what!! this guy says that i will have tp pay as per current charges which worked to be around 71k. It was delay on his/Yatra’s part that their snail paced process required 10 days to know if seats are available for a specific date or not. On top of that they are not ready to give me the package for the same cost as it was on the day i had booked the trip. I got so irritated that i cancelled my trip altogether. It requires person with heart to understand the mental preparation required to plan such long trips and believe me, these guys don’t have it. I would recommend people not to venture into these "agents" for planning our personal trips and rely more on personal efforts for making the whole process more transparent and enjoyable.

Reenuji, here is something that has ALWAYS worked for me for all my 4 visits (and cheap):

1. Plan the trip at least 4-6 months in advance.

2. Book flight tickets first so you get them cheap. I got Del-Leh-Del for like Rs.5500- 4 months in advance and same were for sale in excess of Rs.18,000- 4days in advance.

3. Going to a local travel agent is a must. But buy the tickets yourself. The local agent plans your trip only ex-Leh.

Questions?? Write direct to me {vu2pcd at gmail dot com}.

Pradeep.

Never ever book your trip with make my trip or yatra, we booked our trip with yatra in 2012 and our holiday was completely messed up. No quality hotel no proper representative, left alone for 2 days just doing nothing , it was a horrible experience . Always book your tour with small companies, who really takes responsibility
