Please advise : Hotel and wedding shopping

Hello friends,

We need your help / suggestion in finding us a shopping ( want to buy couple of Lehenga Sarees for wife and a suit for me) places to attend my brother in law's wedding and a hotel accommodation in Mumbai.

We will be coming on vacation in India - Dec (reaching Mumbai airport @ 10:50pm - 2nd Dec - Sunday). We have booked train tickets for 3rd Dec to our hometown.

> 8pm : Train Name: CSTM AMRAVATI EXP From Station: CSTM

Based on this short time slot and looking at the train boarding station (cstm) can you suggest us few good places for shopping?

It would be good if we can also manage to find one day hotel accommodation close to these shops as it will save our time and energy in reaching out to shops from hotel etc etc...any specific hotel suggestion (decent one - not too expensive either)?

One of imp things I need to consider for shopping and hotel booking is...since wife is pregnant so I dont want her to get exhausted in shopping as we would be touching down after a long flight and then we will have to catch a 8hr train to hometown too.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Sydtraveler84,

One possibility will be stay in Juhu (closer to airport on your arrival). Go out shopping in Santacruz, Juhu area and head to CST station from there.

or

Stay around Fort area (nearer to CST station ) and go for shopping in Marine Lines. Crawford Market area.

This will surely curtail travel time & ensure ease and safety for your wife.

There are several hotel options in these area 5*, 3* to budget to economical .Just check it out on hotel sites based on your budget.

Hello sydtraveler84

Well it all depends on one's budget & you have not specified same.

So in general

The shops would be Friendship to Bawari to n number on the street near Santacruz Station (west).Juhu would be Kala Niketan to all top designer's on Juhu Tara Road as to Hotels Marriott to Novotel, to Sun& Sand to Ramada.

As to Marine Lines the shops would be Roop Milan, Kala Niketan ,Bawari(Hughes Road),Roopam, Dia, and all lined up near Crawford Market. The hotels from Taj to Trident, to Fariyas to Residency Fort.

Just go to specific post here in the past and can pick up as per your budget.

There are a number shops of wedding dresses in a row in Santacruz west Opposite SNDT University. There are a number of nice economical hotels on Juhu Tara Road close to these - Ramada Plaza, Juhu Residency, Sea Princess, Royal Garden..

Thanks for your inputs guys.

We are planning to book 'Hotel Ameya' ( 3500 INR)

- Gokhale Road (North), Near Shiv-Sena Bhavan, Shivaji Park, Dadar(West),

Then do shopping ( Lehenga /Sarees) on some shops on Gokhale Road.

For men's suit if we don't find anything on Gokhale Road then we might head to Blackberry's store in High Street Phoenix Mall (heard its 10mins Taxi drive from Gokhale Road??)

Any specific shops on Gokhale Road for Lehenga /Sarees shopping?

What do you guys think above above plan?

Try the Seasons shop at Santacruz (West) for the ladies lehanga shopping besides Bawree, Friendship and others nearby. For men's suits you will not find much at Dadar anyway so I suggest going to any Raymond's or Park Avenue shop and get a suit from their collection. You may also try Zodiac shops for the same. In Dadar (West) for the ladies clothes try Paaneri and most of the other shops on N. C. Kelkar Road near the railway station area. The other area best suited for the ladies lehangas is on Marine Lines (Karve Road) near Churchgate station where you will find a row of shops like Roop Kala, Indian States, Kala Mandir, etc. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Aadil.

For Hotels, I suggest go to a site called hotels.com. Its really very convenient and you get good deals on it as well. Suggest you shop on bandra linking road or dadar.
