Non-Parsi wishing to visit the Agiary?

I'm going to Mumbai next month and with high respect and admiration for all religions and cultures, I would love to see an Agiary (Parsi Fire Temple - the one in the Fort?) from inside. Is it possible, or is it considered disrespectful? What can I do to not to harm anyone's feelings?

Hello Orientalist1883,

It is good that you have high respect and admiration for all religions and cultures, You would love to see an Agiary (Parsi Fire Temple - the one in the Fort?) from inside. But they will not be permit to view from inside to a non - Parsi.

No fire temple anywhere in the city or the Dokhma(The Tower of Silence)the place to dispose the dead at Malabar Hill near the Kemp's Corner permits any other person than the one who is Zarathushtra following Zoroastrian religion.

So getting inside will not be possible at all and if it all someone tries to sneak in will be disrespecting and harm their community feelings.

No non-Parsi is allowed to enter the Fire Temple. They don't even allow a non-Parsi spouse to enter it, so there's no question of allowing tourists in. Sad. But that's how it is....

Non-Parsis are usually not allowed to enter Parsi shrines in Pune, the rules could possibly be the same in Mumbai too. It's better to consult locals there.

There is a small Parsi Agiary adjacent to the Church Gate local railway station in Mumbai.

You can't enter an agiary if you are not a Parsi. That's that.

Anyone who is advising you otherwise doesn't know what they are saying.

You can see several agiarys in the city, from outside. Please let me know where you are staying and I can point you in the direction of the nearest ones.
