If it is an a/c seat then you need not worry as the windows have very dark glasses and curtains to cover them as well. Sorry but you cannot choose your seat. At the most you may give a preference for a lower or upper berth lower berth ensures a window seat. Middle berth is the middle seat and the upper berth is the aisle seat. But if the seat is on the other side (side seats) of the train then you only have two window seats with one having the upper berth and the other the lower berth.

You can choose between lower and upper births. There is no option to choose seat number.

A/C options are as follows:

- AC First Class (1A): Passengers are seated in two- or four-berthed private compartments.

- AC 2 Tier (2A): Passengers are seated in air-conditioned carriages that are split into two- or four-berthed compartments that are separated by curtains.

- AC 3 Tier (3A): Air-conditioned seating in three-tiered compartments.

- AC Chair Car (CC): Air-conditioned seating with reclining seats. It is available in most inter-city expresses trains such as Shatabdi.

Hi doofus,

The seat-allotment is system generated on Indian Railways. One can only give preference and thereafter seat are allotted randomly.

Intercity & Shatabdi trains have CC - AC Chair Car. You will need to check up if the particular train on a chosen route has AC Chair Car. Or else, you will have to choose other class of travel 1-A, 2-A or 3-A.
