Mumbai International to Domestic Airport transfer

Hi .. We are a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids) planning to fly Emirates to Mumbai landing at 14:00 hrs (2PM) on 26th July 2014 (Saturday). We need to take a domestic flight to Chennai - there is a SpiceJet at 1640 hrs. Will I be able to clear immigration / collect baggage & commute to the domestic terminal in 1 hr 40 minutes. Do you see any risk of missing the domestic connection ? Appreciate any inputs please. Thanks

By the time you clear your immigration it will take minimum an hour. If you're lucky to get clear with all in an hour you will have to travel to the domestic airport which will approximately take you 30 mins.

Try to do a web check in for your domestic flight which will give a sometime to breathe in-case if the clearance consumes time.

But at the end, it all depends on the immigration at the international airport. Its a risk.

If everything goes fine with immigration and baggage, the earliest you can reach the domestic terminal is by 15.30. So, as posted by PatelShohil, a web check-in can make things easier, but no guarantee in any case.

Arriving at 1400 means you will clear immigration and customs by 1500 and then you need to get the free coach from the international to domestic terminal which will take about 20-30 minutes to reach and a maximum of 30 minutes to get if one has left just before you arrive at the gate. So calculating at least two hours for reaching your check in counter at the domestic terminal for which you need to be there at least one hour before flight time (ideally about two or at least one and a half hours) then you will surely miss the connecting flight. So please book another later flight for your onward journey. Hope this helps.
