eating at the Taj

Shall be staying at the Sofitel but want to have a bite to eat at the Taj on our trip there in October. Am thinking of either lunch or afternoon tea and was wondering if I will need to book in advance or just turn up.

Other question is, is it worth it ?

thanks

High Tea at the Sea Lounge is very nice and I think it is a unique Mumbai experience. They don't take reservations.

For the other restaurants, you can reserve for lunch or dinner.

Lunch or dinner is definitely more expensive but worth the price you pay for it too along with the great service and ambience of the place.

Of course there are other places in the city (not necessarily at five star hotel restaurants) where you would spend much much less and still enjoy the food and that means you could eat at about three different places for the same amount of money and still get some great food. All depends on what kind of food you wish to eat and try out in Mumbai. There are lots of options for different styles and types of cuisines in the city. Some of the areas where there are a lot of good restaurants serving different varieties of food are Colaba Causeway, Churchgate, Bandra (West), Lokhandwala (Andheri West) and Andheri Kurla Road (near the International Airport). Some of the three to five star hotels and many other popular restaurants also have some nice discount schemes on websites like Groupon.com where vouchers can be bought online and used for four/five course lunches/dinners or buffet lunches, dinners or brunches on Sundays. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Aadil.
