Getting up to amber palace

What is the best way to go up to amber palace? We do not want to use elephants. There are people in my group who have knee problems. Are cars able to or allowed to go up so as to avoid the climb?

Yes, all the cars are allowed to go upto a few metres before the entry gate of Amer Fort.

Most of the time, there is a queue for the elephants. Moreover, the elephant will take you oneway only. For coming down, you have to hire the jeep etc.

AshisRoy,

Thanks for your info on amber. As also for the bus timngs.

Just one more question on that. Do volvo/mercedes buses from jaipur to delhi and deluxe/volvo buses from jaipur to ajmer originate from the sindhi camp bus station and can one buy tickets at the sindhi camp bus station itself?
