Itinerary help

Hi, first trip to India with 2 nieces. We will be arriving in Delhi on December 13th, returning on the 21st.. The plan was to stay in Delhi1 night and then go to Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Delhi with a mix of driver/train.

Questions:

Would that be the correct order?

Who can recommend drivers?

Which trips are best to do via train?

We would also like to include some type of Elephant tour. Any suggestions for this?

Thank you!

Yes the order of the cities is correct...Delhi>Agra>Jaipur>Udaipur...1 night at Agra is good enough and the rest of the cities 2 nights each...that would be2N Delhi>1NAgra >2NJaipur>2NUdaipur.

The journey between Delhi - Agra and Agra -Jaipur can be done by train and Jaipur-Udaipur by flight.

The Elephant ride/tour can be done at Amber Fort in Jaipur.

There are some suggestions for car rentals/drivers on this forum.

For any other travel related queries,Hotels etc search in the box above corner.

For trains--check with www.cleartrip.com or www.seat61.com

Thanks and Regards

You can fly or train to Udaipur from Delhi. Udaipur to Jaipur an over night train to save on hotels. From Jaipur to Agra and Agra to Delhi u can travel by train.

In each city you can hire cabs for tour. There are recommendations on respective city forums.

Amer fort is good for elephant ride.

Since there are no direct flights between Jaipur and Udaipur and trains would take about 7 hours, you could first fly to Udaipur and spend 2 nights and take a day time train to Jaipur or as suggested take an overnight train and spend either 2 nights or one night in Jaipur. From Jaipur you could either take a train or hire a car for your journey to Agra. If you take a car you can stop by at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and/or Fatehpur Sikri. From Agra to Delhi you could take a train or retain the same car. Since it is your first visit probably better to start with the gentler Udaipur before you tackle Jaipur or Agra.
