Jaipur: Holi 2014

Holi 2014

Jul 14, 2013, 11:59 PM

We had planned on being in Jaipur around the 7 March 2014. No learning that Holi is celebrated later in March 2014. Can someone confirm the actual dates of Holi and whether it is something so interesting from a touristic point-of view so as to justify paying airline change fees (India-Istanbul) so as to be in Jaipur during Holi. I thank you for your input and valuable information in previous posts.

In 2014, Holi is on March 17. Well it all depends on what it means to you, if its just for spiritual reasons than your plans will be fulfilled and if it is just the parties, mate you will need to find a nice place where they celebrate Holi with a massive party. Lots of Holi parties goes on in Jaipur but it is too early to give you the exact detail. keep in touch

Great information. We just changed our flights to stay thru Holi and hoping it is safe with 2 boys ages 8 and 10. Staying at Rambagh Palace and assume they will have a celebration.

Yes Rambagh do have celebrations. But the actual fun is to walk on the streets, specially M I Road, meet the locals, see the Pink city in different colors. As far as security is concerned, police man are there everywhere to make sure the tourist are safe. It would be real fun believe me.

arome, I advise you to take some time on Holi OUT of Rambagh Palace and with locals where the real fun is, throwing colours and enjoyment. I am certain there will be parties at the hotel, but the real fun is on the streets and in the neighbourhoods. Bring an old tshirt to wear!

Also no one should count on the 2014 Elephant festival running, as it was cancelled at the last moment this year and will likely not run again in 2014....

TO protect elephant law enforcement agencies not allow for elephant festival on holi. due to this reason on the last minute court take decision and elephant festival cancel on the last moment. Its sure no Elephant festival but a festival of color will be celebrated.

Does Jaipur has any tradition of playing Holi after a few days again? I am an Indian and have no special fascination for Holi. So I wondering if we travel around 19th March is there any chance of getting caught unawares with Holi?
