visit darjeeling

hi i am planning to reach the new jalpaiguri station at around 3 in morning by train, around the start of july, can i reach Darjeeling the same day spend the entire day sight seeing and come back the next day back to NJP to catch a train to howrah or bbsr?

kindly suggest few ideal locations, cheap accommodations and places to visit

Note: travelling solo, backpacking so suggest accordingly also wanna not spend more than 2000 maybe on this one day trip

It would be hectic, recommended to spend overnight.

NJP station- Darjeeling, 4hrs, even if you start in the early morning in the shared jeeps from NJP station, you'd arrive only by 11am. If you want to return the same day, you have to again leave by 4pm. Not possible to see all places within 5hrs.

Moreover in July, you wouldn't be able to see much due to rains and foggy conditions in Darjeeling.

*Else, reserve a full taxi to take you to Darjeeling and bring back to NJP station for a day trip, approx Rs.4000 (negotiable)
