Gu;f Shores - November 2007

Any recommendations for dining, site seeing, touring the area for mature couple for one week visit ?? We want to drive to Biloxi for a day, also over to Orange Beach and maybe further. Gulf-front dining ?? Thx

Biloxi is a good day trip. Orange Beach is a five minute drive, so you may want to continue to Pensacola. There is the Naval Aviation Museum, a lot of people like that. USS Alabama is a museum in Mobile Bay.

The old adage about waterfront dining that says "the better the view, the worse the food" pretty much holds true down here. You might try Cosmo's on Canal Road, Ginny Lane at The Wharf. Some people like Lulu's. There is a new place called Nick's on Hwy 59 that is pretty good.

You might want to try LuLu's at Homeport Marina. Jimmy Buffett's sister own's the place and when we went the food was great. You can sit outside overlooking the marina. We are going back in December 07. Any suggestions on good condo's to rent?

Stop at the Welcome Center on your way into Gulf Shores. There's one on Hwy. 59, north of the bridge, on your right. Lots of ideas there for dining or day trips. Believe the Blue Angels may be performing early in November. Definitely worth the drive to Pensacola if they are. Almost all of the casinos in Biloxi have some fine dining restaurants. Would not recommend the buffets though except maybe for breakfast. If you want something really casual in Gulf Shores, Sea n Suds is on a pier over the water. We like their shrimp and gumbo. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Cosmo's in Orange Beach is wonderful! Not beachfront, but very good! Maybe I'll see you there-headed down this week!
