fall vacation....

Having never been to Gulf Shores have lots of questions....

What is the area like in early October......

Recommendations for a place to stay for "mature, but active" adults? Places that cater more to adults than families with kids.

Best airport to fly into that is nearby?

Any ideas........thanks

October is a great month to come down. The weather is great, bugs are not bad & the crowds are gone. Fly into Pensacola, Fl

October is the perfect time to visit. It's not too hot and the crowds have departed. Are you interested in staying at a condo or a hotel. Here's a link to condo's. Click on an icon and look at the details.

October is a great time to visit! We always go in Sept or Oct. The thing is...the families have gone back to school so it's mostly couples like us or if there are kids they are cute babies who are fun to watch & don't make a lot of noise, take over the pools, make big lines are restaurants, etc. ;-) We are a very picky couple (can't deny it, LOL) & we always stay at the Lighthouse in a 1 bedroom. Floor to ceiling windows in the livingroom & master. Jet tub in the master brm. It has a bunkroom where we can store our empty suitcases, purchases from the outlets, beach gear, etc. as well as a 2nd bathroom. It also has 2 hot tubs, 2 pools, an indoor pool, a workout room, great parking, etc. We stayed in a 2brm at Crystal Shores West once & it was a beautiful unit, but the pool was on the side & small & so much of the parking was reserved that it was always a pain to find a spot, so it's always the LH for us! Whereever you choose, look online at the rooms individually to see the decor that appeals to you. Sorry, can't help w/ the airport thing. I know you will enjoy your trip. Hubby & I treat each vaca down there like a mini-honeymoon!

Flights into Pensacola are always cheaper and the traffic is much better. Airport Rd in Mobile is a nightmare. It is longer and will take at least two hours as opposed to one hour or less coming from Pensacola. I wouldn't worry to much about adult-oriented properties as children won't be an issue during your dates unless there is a USSSA tournament at the ballfields in GS or OB and I don't recall any tournaments in October in years past. It just depends on how luxurious you want your vacation rental to be.
