Stayed at Azzure last Nov, best hotel we have stayed in, have been to Goa 17 ish times so have tried a fair few! Rooms are great, bed has crisp cotton linen, memory foam mattress toppers the comfiest bed we have slept in Goa. Bathrooms roomy and modern, air con great.

Food at poolside is lovely if a tad over priced, great happy hour cocktails that lasts from 6pm -8pm buy one get one free. Plenty of choice for breakfast including lots of south indian food.

Situated on a quiet back road but only 10 mins to main high street, peaceful grounds that look out over fields.

Staff soooo helpful and very friendly nothing too much trouble.

Will prob go back to Azzure next year.

Pousada Tauma is a stunning hotel on the edge of Calangute centre and is listed by TA as the No 1 hotel in the whole of Goa but is the best part of 1 Km from a nice part of the beach

The Fahrenheit is a very pleasant hotel with gardens leading to the beach with a shack and sun area overlooking, TA listed it as the No 4 in Calangute and is close to the night life in Baga

The Azzure again is a very pleasant hotel and listed by TA as the No 6 in Calangute but is some way from Calangute centre and even further to the beach

We had a look around the rooms in fahrenheit and they were stunning. Very close to beach as well. Unfortunately out of my price range tho :(

Yes Les the Somy has been updated.

We also went about 4 years ago and I agree it was depressing, but we called in last year to see some of the bar guys and it has had a make over.

It is now run by a new company with a woman general manager(cannot remember her name) the pool area has been re-tiled and one of the blocks has been re-furbished.

Simon.

Most things will be up and running by the first week of November with restaurants opening every day all along the Calangute strip, Anjuna Wednesday market will have opened in October however Mackie's Saturday night market doesn't normally open until late November with Ingo's a week or two later but this is India so who knows

November is a good time but there is a risk of an end of monsoon storm around sunset/early evening, hope you love it like we do
