Romantic fires on the beach???

Do any beaches in the Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach area allow you to build a campfire for making smores and enjoying the full moon. We are staying at the seawind condos???

I have never seen camp fires on a beach at GS. GS has some pretty strict regulations. There's a nice park at Gulf State. I'm sure they allow camp fires.

No fires allowed. Otherwise you would see burned wood & ash up & down the beaches. Most people would not clean it up & other would bury it , then some kid would be digging a sandcastle & get burned or dirty.

There were some drunk people that started a bon fire a few years back in front of our condo. Needless to say, they were super embarrassed when the firetrucks showed up with lights and sirens, and put out their fire. I don't know if they were ticketed or not, but it was quite a scene.

Seems like the condo's would put a fire pit for evening gatherings... Thanks for all the help though...

There is so much light from the condo buildings, that you can see fine on the beach, without the aid of firepits..

Wasn't actually visibility since we are going to be there during a full moon. nostalgia more than anything. Something about sitting around the campfire with a bottle of wine or cold beer watching the kiddo's make smores on a beach...

Depending on when you are going to be there -- the city of Gulf Shores does host Smores on the Shores at the main beach. They don't do it during the height of tourist season, however (for all the reasons mentioned above), but you can call the Special Events Division in Gulf Shores at 251-968-1171 to see when the next one will be.

Also, this is sea turtle hatching season and fires on the beach put them at risk, not just from the obvious fire problem and big holes that the turtles might get caught in, but the extra light disorients the turtles. See the Share the Beach website for more info.

If you really want a bonfire you will have to rent something private on the bay side. No fires on the ocean side or in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. The police and Fire Dept. are pretty strict about it. But private property owners on the bayside that are renting may have fire pits already in place and I have been to several for parties over the years. Fort Morgan is your best bet to find a rental but it will be on the bay side and not the beach side but it may give you a chance to have the best of both worlds, so to speak, as the ocean is almost just across the street in some areas. You have to keep in mind that we are under drought conditions right now and all fires presently are banned and giving that you are already staying at Seawind you might have to use the BBQ grills if you really want Smores.
