Wedding on PIR

Thanks to all those who replied to my post yesterday. I now have some more questions!

Our daughter lands in Nadi on Friday around 2.30pm. The wedding is on PIR on Tuesday, and she has been told she has to pick the licence up from Nadi first. Something I read on here suggested that the resort would organise this, as below:

However, if you are getting married at a resort or hotel they make all the necessary arrangements for you.

I'm worried they won't get to the office on time (and have a two year old to deal with on arrival). They leave for PIR on Saturday morning.

Does anyone know if this is what they should have to do, and if so what the opening hours would be? They will pretty much have to get straight in a taxi, and it seems to be adding more stress. The person she has been dealing with is on leave, so hasn't been able to get a response today.

Sorry to say, according to the the website for PIR couples getting married at the resort must present themselves at the Nadi Registry Office. It also states the resort's wedding packages do not include wedding license fees or transportation to/from the registry office.

Hours for the registry in Nadi is at the bottom of the following link. Would also contact PIR regarding the misinformation. Someone should be able advise even though the person you have been dealing with is on leave.

Good luck. Hopefully, everything you will work out and your daughter will have the wedding of her dreams.

We got married at Treasure a few yrs ago.Everything was organised for us and we didn't have to go into Nadi, even though their website and our TA stated otherwise. So hopefully this is the case too for your daughter, but I think it best you ring the appropriate numbers below and clear it up for peace of minds sake.

Also your daughter and fiancé should have sent through photocopies of their original birth certs, passports etc at least 2 weeks prior to the wedding?

Nadi Office

Tel (679) 700101

Mon – Thurs: 8 – 4.30 pm

Fri: 8 – 4 pm

Closed 1 – 2 pm

Or ring Plantation Island. Both Api and Miri are very helpful.

Api Vasu: api@plantationisland.com

Miri Soqosoqo: miri@plantationisland.com

Tel: (679) 6669333

Best of luck!

Ahh E&C...ours was organised for us. This is more than likely why there is so much confusion surrounding Wedding Licences etc.

Personally if this is the case for this couple, they should have been informed of this when making the wedding booking.

Perhaps RoseStevens you can get PIR to organise a special licence for them if needed? It could be worth asking when/if you ring PIR.

Let us know how it all works out. Best of luck.

Thanks all for the info. Were getting conflicting opinions depending on who we speak to. The special licence is a great idea too, just in case they don't make the office due to flight delays. Much appreciated :)

6. Re: Wedding on PIR

Update. Thanks to the responses here, they have now arranged a special licence, at some cost, but that is the only thing they could do as PIR have advised the registry office closes at 3pm on a Friday (contrary to their website). So if not for you guys they may have found themselves without a licence. Still not sure how that happened when booking the wedding package through a travel agent who was made aware they needed to pick it up on arrival, but a good outcome.

Thanks to all :)
