Deluxe Ocean View Bure vs Oceanfront Suite for Family of 5

Hi just booking 10 nights in July for our family of 2 adults, 2 teenage girls (ages 15 & 17) and 3 year old boy (!) we will stay 5 nights at Sofitel and then 5 nights at Mana.

I stayed at Mana about 8 years ago with just hubby & I (no kids) so are familiar with the pros and cons (average food but amazing in every other way) and remembered thinking the ocean view bures were the way to go if there was ever a next

Options are Oceanfront Suite which has a good configuration but a bit far from the pool (3 year olds favourite thing) or 2x Ocean View Bures (interconnecting) which will be a bit more expensive but like the idea of being closer to pool and stpping off the deck onto the beach (and would prefer standalone rather than hotel block style) the girls are self sufficient so having them next door as opposed to one unit to share is no issue (they need the bathroom space!)

Also thoughts on meal plan? Like the idea of mixing up the options for dining: south/north/backpacker and not sure if a meal plan will facilitate.

Also, was the kids club suitable for a 3 year old or do they need to be older?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi, the oceanfront suites have steep stairs which might be a problem with a 3 year old. I would go for the two ocean view bures .Other than paying in advance, there is no benefit in buying a meal plan-pay as you go and you have the benefit of the buffet, a-la-carte or a visit to the backpackers. The 3 year old will have a ball at the kids club.

Thanks so much. The Bures are fully booked for our preferred dates so will try and swap our Sofitel stay for the beginning and end with Mana.

We stayed in an Oceanfront Suite last year with a 8 yr old and almost 3 year old. We loved it and would stay in one again in a heartbeat if budget allowed it. Sadly this year we've gone for an island bure due to funds :-( No problem with stairs for our little one. It's right next to kids club which was handy and we found our 3 yr old loved swimming at south Beach just as much as the pool as the water was calm and he could see the fish. Our little one was 3 weeks too young for kids club but as his big brother was over there the mei mei would take him to kids club and supervise him. My kids enjoyed it.

We are taking half board again this year as we found the backpackers too hard at night with the little one so always ate at the resort for dinner and brekkie. Had lunches at backpackers though. And when we went to South Beach for dinner we got a credit for the buffet which would could use at south Beach and pay any difference on top of that.

Enjoy your trip
