Family trip to Shanghai during Chinese New Year

We're taking our two boys, 4 and 7, to Shanghai during Chinese New Year. Planning to watch the "Era" show at Shanghai Circus World. What else would be fun to do, besides Cheng Huang Miao and Century Park?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Great article. Thanks!

Is there any place about or related to the Expo that's open and worth seeing?

Go up Lupu Bridge. It's the arch bridge and you can go up on the arch. They have built a viewing platform on the top. It's very high but not scary at all and it is right at the EXPO site so it will give you a great view of the preparations and building work and of the river and of Shanghai.

Shanghai has a world-class aquarium in Pudong. Also, the Shanghai Museum is something that may be good for them. It is free and a quick visit of an hour or so in areas of interest to the kids would be great. There are minority costumes and cultures, ceramics, coins and currency, gold and jade jewelry (stunning to any age), calligraphy, bronzes, etc. It is a magnificent collection, but anything longer than an hour might bore them.

You cannot see any content of the Expo, so just looking at the physical site might not be of much interest. The urban planning center is pretty advanced in content, but they have a huge model of the center city part of Shanghai where almost every building is shown in scale. You can walk around and above this model.
