Experts, Help with Shanghai itinerary! Please.

We are traveling to Shanghai next May 10 for 6 days (maybe more) and I want to know if the following is realistic and am I missing something special?

Day 1 arrive early morning - afternoon - the Bund, Shanghai Museum, Silk Museum

Day two Shanghai M 50 Art Community, Xintiandi, Dongtai Road Market

Day 3 Yuyuan market and Yuyuan Garden, Urban Planning Exhibit Hall and Jin Mao Tower

Day 4 Tongli/Tongli cruise (outiside city)

Day 5 Hangzhou day trip

Day 6 Open day

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Anything missing that we ought to see as a "must see" place? I am open to suggestions. Thank you

I think you have got a very detailed arrangement, Shanghai's most interesting places are in your arrangement. Here is some suggestions:

Are you interested in acrobatics? (Shanghai Acrobatics are renowned all over the world) you can see it in Shanghai Bai Yu Lan Treater.

Tianzifang Art Street, it's a good place to get some real artwork. Taikang Road

Zhujiajiao Water Town, it's a canal town, features beautiful waterways, and arched stone bridges. Situated on the bank of the Dianshanhu Lake on the western outskirts of Shanghai

If you are shopping lovers, Nanjing Road is an ideal place to go

u had mixed up some of the places. If u r to do Urban Planning Center do it along with Shanghai museum as its only a stone throw form each other. Also the bund,Xintiandi,Nanjing pedestrian street r more or less within the same vicinity. Its only logical to do them together as it saves double or back tracking n waste time. However as a note of advice try doin Nanjing donglu,Xintiandi n the bund at night as it only comes alive then.6 days should b enuf time.YuYuan bazaar can b done on any weekday to avoid a huge crowd but its also near to these places.or else can b done earlier in the morning before the throngs of people come swarming in.Spare a day too for the attractions at Pudong like the SWFC,Grand Hyatt,Oriental Peral Tower,Aquarium or the Science n Tech museum.a day to explore at yr leisure the streets around French concession is also great.Acrobatics show at like Era intersection of time is almost a must or the classical acrobatics show at Shanghai Center.Slightly out of the way attraction like Jade BUddha temple if u have enuf time.Try to make full use of the metro to travel as its so convenient.Shanghai is not famous for its silk .,even though there is a silk market at Hongqiao.Better to do the silk marketing if u plan to go Suzhou n Tongli.U could omit Zhujiajiao if u go Tongli. If u like u could even stay a nite there.Hangzhou can b done as a day trip unlless u want to see the magnificent cultural show at Tang Dynasty village.

Where else you are going as 6 days is a lot to devote to Shanghai.

For your days 4, 5 & 6 you could look at maybe staying overnight in Tongli. It is very pleasant at night and there quite a few guest houses there now.

From Tongli you can continue onto Hangzhou & save doubling back to Shanghai. Also consider an overnight stay in Hangzhou.

Not sure where you are going after Hangzhou / Shanghai but there are a number of flights that leave Hangzhou direct to other places.

If you decide to keep your itinerary as you have posted - for day 6 a day trip to the old town of Qibao. It is on the outskirts of Shanghai & you can get there by metro or taxi.

Another option is to go to Fuxing Park & then wander around the old French Concession area and then the Huaihai Road area for shopping.
