hongqiao airport to Howard Johnson (Gaoqiao area)

Hi,

What is the cheapest way to get from the airport to my hotel? We will have 1 piece of luggage each and will not be jet lagged since we have already visited other areas in Guangdong?

Tour company selected this hotel as our meeting point.

Thank you.

You can easily use www.exploreshanghai.com, the interactive route map for the Shanghai Metro.

Find the Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 stop on Line 2 (green) to your far left. Then drag your cursor to the farthest upper right station, Gangcheng Road on Line 6 (hot pink). That your cheapest way there, almost 90 minutes at a cost of just 7 yuan, or slightly more than CAD$1 each! This is over 16 miles as the crow flies, but the crow does not fly there, so I am sure the mileage on the ground would be well over 20-24 miles.

The taxi fare will be around CAD$30-35 or more, around 200 yuan. Only three people with three checked bags fit into a Shanghai taxi. A taxi might take somewhat less than an hour, so Metro takes 30 minutes longer.

Enter the address "5658 Zhangyang North Road, Shanghai 200137, China" into Google and you will find the hotel location as well as the Metro stops. The end of the line Gangcheng looks like a better place to walk from than the North Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone stop.

BTW, the correct English name of the hotel is Howard Johnson Plaza Waigaoqiao Shanghai.
