Shanghai covers a large area, but the city is more modest. Shanghai is divided into two parts: Pudong and Puxi. The historical attractions belong to Puxi where Shanghai's personality is also found: The Bund, and the former foreign concessions, the shopping districts. Pudong is a more recent invention and is the location of the financial district and the famous skyline.

Must-see attractions in Shanghai include: The Bund, Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, Tianzifang, Xintiandi, the former foreign concessions, Jade Temple, Jingan Temple, Zhujiajiao Old Town, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium.

Please try the red sightseeing buses. They are good value and you can hop on, hop off all along the route. They cover a lot of worthwhile stops and lessen the amount of walking usually associated with siteseeing.

If you are looking for a budget hotel in good location, you can try this one. HOTEL ELEGANCE. One of my clients once stayed there and it looks clean and nice. It's close to the Bund. Very good price. They also used a very good local car service shanghaidriver.net on their private trips in Shanghai.

people's square, the bund area, Xintiandi area are all nice areas to stay no matter for holiday or business.

normally a personal tour guide costs about 600rmb to 700rmb/day in shanghai, and taxis costs about 150rmb to 250rmb/day for city tours.

I think it cost me about $ 150 ( including tip) for a tour guide and a driver and a van to take us around Shanghai for a day. If you are limited in time, its a good option. If you are takign cabs, make sure you have someone at the hotel write you taxi card instructions to all th eplaces where you want to go. Otherwise, you may never get there.
