We are currently in Shanghai and enjoying all it has to offer, quick few questions if anyone would be so kind to answer.. Ok so the haggling thing is a bit mind boggling especially when it seems you have to do it for everything especially coming from a country where all prices are displayed and fixed! We have been walking past watermelon/fruit stalls and no prices displayed and when you ask for a slice I was a bit taken aback when asked for what in my opinion is ridiculous as you can buy a whole watermelon back home for that...
Now some may say if you want it you have to pay for it, but its getting tiring haggling for even the simplest things, especially when a westerner is seen as an easy target.. We have tried to learn some simple phrases in Mandarin and probably due to our accents we are not understood..
So please could someone help with approx (rough estimates, anything helps!) costs for the following..
Slice of watermelon
Street food on skewers
Thanks in advance..
