Re: What part of Guantacaste and hotel would you recommend?

We're planning our last leg of our trip in CR. We would love to stay in Guantacaste for its' beaches and would like to hit Monteverde Cloud Reserve and Rincon Vieja as well.

Please any recommendations for 2 adults and 1 ten yr. old would be appreciated.

Deathly afraid of red ants like the one resort that reportedly had them by the droves.

Hotel Capitan Suizo is a great option to stay in guanacaste, in front of a beautiful beach, if you don´t find space there, try Cala Luna. If you go to monteverde don´t miss the Authentic Monteverde Reserve, the most important cloud forest in the world, and for the best adventure and lots of fun for you and your 10 year old go to Rincon de la Vieja National park and on the way try de adventure activities of Hacienda Guachipelin and Guachipelin Adventure Tours. You and your son will greatly enjoy it.

If you think you would find staying in Tamarindo, a little too built up, and commercial, then stay at another nearby beach and hit up Tamarindo for the day or for the great restaurants. 15 min away in Brasilito is the Hotel Conchal. While not right on the beach, is a wonderful boutique hotel with a lights-out restaurant. The Playa Conchal beach is one of the nicest in Guanacaste.

Hi travelbug15,

You may want to take a look at Samara and Carrillo. They have one of the nicest beaches in Costa Rica and the town is developed enough that you will not get bored but note too developed where you loose the Costa Rica flavor. There are lots of hotels in many price ranges to fit your specific needs and the beach has 2 reefs which makes it safe for children.

Have fun!

Forgot to mention that Monteverde and Rincon de la Vieja are about 3 to 3.5 hrs away from Samara and Carrillo.
