any tips for long term rental walkable to the beach?

Hi,

I'm looking for something long term at the beach. I'm thinking an apartment. It should have security and WiFi, be someplace not overrun by tourists (*not* Tamarindo), and have decent surfing (I'm a beginner). And be affordable -- like $600 a month. Would appreciate any tips!

Why not go to one of the Costa Rican surfing websites and then pick a few locations that look good to you. We might be able to point you in the right direction - but as it stands, your question is just too open-ended.

Try these: www.surf-costarica.com

www.crsurf.com

Or here: anywherecostarica.com/destinations/…surfing

Note that your best bet for an affordable rental will be once you arrive. Look around and ask around to find the best deals. Word of mouth is the way things are done here. You can find a place on the internet or on Craig's List - but it will no doubt be more expensive. So pick your spot, book a hotel or B&B or hostel for a few days and that will give you the time to find what you are looking for. Your price range is do-able in some areas..... others probably not.

You can check out Samara. It is a great beginners beach and you may be able to find accommodations for that price, depending on the time of the year you come in. But Hattie is right, the best deals are once you arrive and walk around to find the best deal.

Have fun!
