Nine Days - 2nd trip with kids

We land in Liberia on Friday afternoon and fly back from SJO two Modnays later at 6:15 am giving us 9 full days on the ground. Thinking of going to Playas Coco to stay at Rancho Armadillo for 3-4 days and then we want to head over to Arenal. We stayed at Lost Iguana last time and are considering Leaves & Lizards, which is considered a "retreat. Thoughts on this? Should we go on to another spot (and if so, where?). We will be renting a car in Liberia but it will be our first time driving in CR as we flew between places the last time.

We will be with our 11 year old daughter and her friend and want to as much adventure possible -- zip line, horseback ride, hanging bridge, swim, hike, ATV.

This is some reviews and info about Playa del Coco:

anywherecostarica.com/destinations/playa-del…

Some of my friends recently go at Playa del Coco and didn't find it very interesting. But, it is close to the Liberia airport. About 38 minutes.

If you want to go further and see nicer beaches, I propose Playa Coyote and Playa San Miguel:

"One hundred kilometers of sandy beachfront, swaying palms, clear blue waters and fantastic surf ".

It is about 155 km from Liberia.

Here are some reviews about it on Trip Advisor: tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g291982-i813-k62794…

Ans somes good hotels you can review:

I wish you a great trip!

Leaves and Lizards is a cool retreat but doesn't offer a lot in the way of onsite amenities (no pool), and is considerably more rustic than Lost Iguana - especially for an 11 yr old. Its pretty out of the way from everything in the area. If you're looking for more of a sustainable/working farm/off the beaten path kind of thing, Finca Luna Nueva or Rancho Margot have more going on for the child. You might also consider something like Los Lagos or Arenal Springs, which are more centrally located to town and attractions, but also have a lot of onsite included amenities that would be fun for a kid.

Since you have some extra days and are looking to do something different - a night or two as a stopover near Rio Celeste/Tenorio national park might be cool - there's some neat lodges in the area and the waterfall is totally worth seeing.
