Will be traveling to Liberia over Christmas by myself for 4 days, and am looking for a day or 2 of touring, and just relaxing in the warm weather (nothing crazy). Funds are somewhat limited, but have some credit card points and have narrowed it down to the following hotels - Borinquen Mountain Resort & Spa, Allegro Papagayo All Inclusive, and Coco Beach Hotel. Would like something not too expensive to get to ($50 or under, shared shuttle for cheaper would be fine), with a pool, and a decently modern room with A/C and at least a small fridge. Borinquen looks the nicest out of the 3, but I see that it is super remote. Can anyone give me more information about the property. What's the cheapest way I can get there? Will other tours pick up there, or am I stuck basically doing the tours they offer on their website? Will I get the real feel of Costa Rica there? Can I still see monkeys and beaches with a tour from there?
I liked the idea of the Allegro being by the beach and having lots of wildlife plus being all-inclusive, but it is a little more run-down then I'd like, and the rooms look awful, plus it's a little more expensive than Borinquen.
Coco Beach only interests me because it's more in town, but I'm not looking for any crazy night life, just somewhere to drink a little and relax, plus see the real Costa Rica.
Any other info that could help me would be much appreciated.
