Best wildlife near Nicoya

Thinking of spending a week in this area and was wondering if there were wildlife/hiking/etc near here that would be good for a day or two while not diving or playing on the beach. I'm trying to decide to spend a full week in this area or split up into 2 trips and go somewhere else for 4 days to experience wildlife (Like Osa). First thought was 5 days beach/diving then 5 days in the Osa hiking and exploring wildlife. Wondering if there is anything near Playas Del Coco so that we could just stay in the north. Admittedly, though, I know very little about this area, other than I know want to dive the Bat Islands. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you could try one of the many National Parks in the general area:

Barra Honda, Rincon de la Vieja, Palo Verde, Santa Rosa, etc.

Coco and Osa are far away from each other, so for me its either or .....

From Coco you can contact http://www.richcoastdiving.com/Welcome.html for a trip to Bats

From Coco you can arrange a day trip to Rincon de la Vieja NAtional Park at Las Pailas, for volcanic activity , waterfalls , wildlife, hot springs , lush tropical forest and a good chance to see wild life.

Palo Verde is a good option for nature from Coco area.

Thanks for the help. Rincon looks like a good day trip.
