Rental car or not

My wife and I are visiting Coco in mid april with other couples and we are considering just using taxis and tour companies to tour the area. will most likely rent a scooter tho. Is this wise?

I think so....if you do not like to drive long distances and the kind of people that like tours...is better not to have a car!

Just be carefull with scammers trying to get your money...most of the time they will send you PM at recommending a phantom tour operation...they are part of the scamm...the best is report any solicitying by PM and avoid them...

In Coco walking is ok. So do contact a tour company for the "must do" tours, like Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and Palo Verde boat tour

IN Coco you absolutely do not need a car, I would suggest to rent a car just for the days you want to do a tour, like Rincon or so. You can book a tour but renting a car and just going there is a lot cheaper and the roads are fine to drive.

If you ride a scooter outside of Coco, be aware that automobile drivers do not always abide by yellow no-pass road lines. You should be very alert to auto drivers - especially on curvy roads.

This will be our first time in CR. We are looking to rent a condo/villa in Ocotal or Coco. We would prefer not to rent a car for the full time we are there (Feb/Mar). We will look at tours and /or renting a car when we want to explore. We don't mind a 1-2 km walk. We love walking on the beach.

Could someone tell us if it is an easy/safe walk from Ocotal to Coco?

The availabilty and cost of taxis between the two towns.

We prefer quiet with the ability to have crowds and nightlife when wanted.

Coco sounds like the place to be as long as we rent outside of the downtown.

Are there suggestions on which community.
