The best times to surf in Tamarindo is 2-3 hours before and after the high tide. There are exceptions of course, but that's the general rule.

Within Tamarindo there are several surf spots, generally puramar is right. Remember also, so much depends on the wind, swell size, direction, intervals, etc. Almost always, the early morning is the best time.

Get to know people at a local surf shop. What they know cannot be duplicated by any surf charts. You can even rent a board and change it according to current conditions.
