Barcelo/Surfing

Hello,

Thinking of Barcelo for early December trip this year. We were in Tamarindo towards the end of last November and thought the weather was perfect.

We will want to get in a fair amount of surfing, and will not be bringing our boards. I would call us intermediate surfers; I have a 7'2" fun board and husband has 7'10" mini-longboard. Last year we rented boards from Kelly's as it was a nice short walk from the hotel we stayed at. With the Barcelo being outside of Tamarindo, I was just wondering how that would work? i.e. would we have to walk up there and rent boards & surf Tamarindo, or would we be able to find a ride with the boards to the Barcelo...

How are the waves at the Barcelo comparative to Tamarindo?

Thanks in advance!

Why not rent from Kelly's again and just keep the boards at your hotel? They can actually deliver the boards to the Barcelo Langosta via ATV if you don't have a car.

Rent the boards for the week. Langosta can still be learner friendly but is usually a little bigger than Tamarindo. Keep the boads there and surf every day if you wish to. There are plenty of surf spots around the area so good to have a board when it turns on and you can had out.

thanks puramar - we were planning to rent from Kelly's again, glad to hear about the ATV, as we will likely not have a car.

Now all thats left to do is book it. thanks.

Surfing Langosta is more of a challenge than Tamarindo. It is an exposed beach break with hollow peaks right there in the estuary. It can draw a crowd of experienced surfers, but if you are a good surfer you should find plenty of lefts and rights on the outside reef and beach break. Look to head out at mid to incoming high tide.
